AWS emr: Update serverless storage data limits and region availability

Service: emr · 2026-09-27 · Documentation low

File: emr/latest/EMR-Serverless-UserGuide/jobs-serverless-storage.md

Summary

Revises the intermediate data volume limit (200 GB for older releases, 1 TB for emr-7.14+/emr-spark-8.1 except certain Regions) and updates the list of supported Regions with per-Region 200 GB limit annotations.

Security assessment

This is a capacity/region availability documentation update with no security implications such as encryption, access control, or exposure.

Evidence

+ * **Data volume limits** – With emr-7.12, emr-7.13, and emr-spark-8.0, each job can read and write up to 200 GB of intermediate data per job run. For emr-7.14 and later, including emr-spark-8.1, this limit increases to 1 TB, except in Regions noted with a 200 GB limit in Supported AWS Regions below. Jobs exceeding the applicable limit will fail with an error message indicating that the serverless storage limit was reached.
