AWS drs: Clarify DRS supported source infrastructure and arm64 support

Service: drs · 2026-09-27 · Documentation low

File: drs/latest/userguide/FAQ.md

Summary

Rewrites the FAQ answer to state that source servers must use x86_64, that arm64 Linux on AWS Graviton EC2 is supported only for AWS-to-AWS recovery, and links to the supported Linux OS page.

Security assessment

This is a platform/architecture support clarification for disaster recovery source servers with no security control, credential, or vulnerability content.

Evidence

+With AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery, you can recover applications on AWS from physical infrastructure, virtual machines, and other clouds. These source servers must use the `x86_64` architecture. You must be able to install the AWS Replication Agent and run the Failback Client. AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery also supports 64-bit Arm (`arm64`) Linux source servers on AWS Graviton-based Amazon EC2 instances. Elastic Disaster Recovery supports `arm64` only for AWS-to-AWS recovery. See [AWS DRS supported Linux operating systems](./Supported-Operating-Systems-Linux.html).
