AWS amazonq documentation change

Service: amazonq · 2025-04-11 · Documentation low

File: amazonq/latest/qdeveloper-ug/q-admin-setup-subscribe-regions.md

Summary

Expanded regional support documentation with specific regions for IAM Identity Center, Q Developer console, and profiles. Added details about unsupported features in Frankfurt region and data storage location changes.

Security assessment

Changes focus on regional availability and feature limitations, not security vulnerabilities. Data storage location clarification relates to data residency but doesn't address security weaknesses.

-Amazon Q Developer Pro subscriptions are supported in the Regions listed on the [Supported Regions page](./regions.html#default-regions), except for opt-in Regions. Subscriptions are not supported in opt-in Regions. If you want to subscribe users in an opt-in Region, they will only have access to the Free tier in the AWS console, and they won’t have access to Amazon Q in the IDE. Regardless of your Amazon Q Developer subscribers' Region, data is sent to and stored in a US Region. For more information, see [Data protection in Amazon Q Developer](./data-protection.html).
